Araneus marmoreus var. pyramidatus

This beautiful orb weaver can be found near water, in grassland or in woodland. This spider is a variant of Araneus marmoreus and is much less variable in pattern. It is yellow or cream in colour with a wavey triangular black mark at the rear of its abdomen. This variant is more common in the UK than the other form.

Above: This spider was found in Clumber Park in Nottinghamshire. It is only the second of this species to be found at the park.
